Sunday in Frankenmuth

@There is nothing more delightful than a Sunday family day in Frankenmuth.  The Alpine city is just gorgeous with flowers everywhere.  The weather was perfect and we all met at the Bavarian Inn for the famous chicken dinner served family style.

We had 13 at our table.  Isn't that the number that got Snow White's mother in trouble?  We ordered 11 family dinners, one gluten free dinner and one kid's dinner.  Kara had a coupon so four of the dinners were half price!  Every little bit helps on a check this size.

FYI this world famous dinner consists of broasted chicken, gravy, mashed potatoes, dressing, noodles, peas and carrots, cucumber salad, pasta salad, cranberry relish, cole slaw, fruit stollen and white bread with strawberry rhubarb jam.  Dessert is ice cream in various flavors if you have room!

They now allow you to take your leftovers home and we had 8 containers for me, Kelly and Kyle.  We didn't send much back to be thrown away.

Afterwards we all retired back at the campground and visited until 8:30 or so.  The kids played basketball, some of us played Mexican Train, others took walks around the park.  Some just sat and visited.  Believe it or not the kids were looking for something to eat later on and my key lime pie disappeared.  It was a nice day and we enjoyed having Kelly's mother-in-law and Cassie's boyfriend join us.

The last of our company left just before darrk and we sat outside for a little while longer.

In the morning I did one load of laundry since I didn't have enough quarters for the second one before we left at 10:00.  We drove north for three hours and arrived in Hillman or as Eileen called it "where in the heck are we?"  Hillman is about halfway between Gaylord, a resort area on I-75 and Alpena on Lake Huron.

Right away both fellows started washing the rigs.  At 2:30 we had a rerun of our chicken dinner from the day before.  Ted and I went to the laundromat in Hillman and then I took a nap.  I don't know if being tired is a side effect of the new BP medicine or having it regulated has made my sleeping more like it should be.  Running on 5 hours sleep a day isn't normal!  I will discuss this with Dr. C in a few weeks.

Later in the evening we drove through Hillman and then over to Alpena.  We never did locate the Maritime Museum and where to get the Shipwreck viewing boat rides.  We have flyers to help us whenever we decide to go which will depend on the weather.

It is Tuesday and raining.  They say it will stop mid-day so check back tomorrow!
