We have TV!

Saturday dawned clear and warm, a perfect day for a float trip. We went to Mack's Inn to make arrangements. We were bussed to Big Springs (that I spoke of previously) and put in there. The fellow tried twice to take a picture of all of us but he never managed to so I only have Rick and Brenda sitting in front.

The water goes from a few inches to about four feet deep. There is one spot that is a swimming hole and I think they said it was nine feet deep but it was not a large area. At one point we got stuck because the water was so shallow. Since I had on Crocs I jumped out, pushed the float off the sand bar with the others in it and jumped back in. Not too shabby for an old broad, huh?

The area is so quiet, beautiful and peaceful. It took about 2.5 hours to float 5 miles back to Mack's Inn. It took us awhile to paddle as a team but once we got into the river's current we floated except for an occasional stroke to keep us going straight. Of course we had to paddle to steer around some fishermen too. I took a picture of some other floaters and a view of the mountains.

That evening we went to church at the Little Chapel in the Pines and then had a farewell dinner at Riveredge Restaurant. Other than Rick getting a glass of white wine spilled on him by the waiter, it was a great time.

Sunday morning they were up to send us off at 8 a.m. We were together for 7 weeks and it will take awhile to adjust to traveling alone again. It was 52 degrees when we left Island Park. Here is a photo of "amber waves of grain" and "purple mountains majesty" on the ride to Springville, south of Provo. It was 97 when we arrived.

After getting set up and HOOKING UP THE CABLE we went to Outback Steakhouse for dinner. We had a gift card from Christmas that we had not used yet. Then it was the grocery run to Wal-Mart. We'll be away from big supermarkets until we get to Albuquerque so we had to stock up.

When we got back in the truck it was 102 degrees at 7:00 p.m. We came home, put the groceries away and then took a dip in the pool. We watched TV that night for the first time since July 7! Here's our view from the campground.

Monday morning we drove Route 6 from Springville, UT to Moab, UT. The first half was twisting and turning roads up and down mountains and the last half was absolute desolation.

It took about four hours to go 160 miles. We parked the RV and it was 100+ degrees outside but only 84 inside when I turned on the air. We decided to have lunch and lay low until late afternoon. At 4 p.m. we started out for Arches National Park.

There are many trailheads in Arches but with the heat so bad we knew we wouldn't be taking too many. We did the trails to the north and south windows, double arches and delicate arch. The rest we observed from viewpoints. We went to the campground at the end of the road because we have friends who workamped there and we had seen so many pictures of the area on their blog that we wanted to see it in person.

We came home after 8:00 and it was still 97 degrees. We decided it was too hot to eat so we had a dish of ice cream and sat outside to eat it. A gentleman came over to take pictures of the wonderful view we have. He is in a tent and said this afternoon the temperature inside was 112. I'm hoping Cortez, CO is cooler!

Thank you!!!!!! You have helped Harry and I. We will wait till next year to visit south Utah. We are so spoiled to the cool weather, just the thought of temps in the 90's and above. Can't take it.
Be safe.
